CURRICULUM VITAE

David L. Casey M. D.

Dr. Casey

***Note the "Online Consultation and Secure Messaging" system is not functioning at present.

¤Please note:  Dr. Casey currently only treats urinary incontinence in a very limited fashion – primarily only using medical treatment (i.e. using medication) to treat "urgency" or "urge incontinence", otherwise known as OAB (overactive bladder) associated with leakage after an abrupt urge.  This is to be distinguished from "Stress Urinary Incontinence", or SUI, which is the type of incontinence women experience after coughing or sneezing and leaking urine which is often treated with a bladder "suspension" or sling procedure, and Dr. Casey simply doesn't do any longer.  Having remarked about this, Dr. Casey does perform a specific specialized type of incontinence procedure called "urethral bulking" using Contigen (collagen injections) or Macroplastique Duraspheres, but this is a fairly rare type of incontinence, and generally he only treats a limited number of these patients who are already diagnosed with the most severe "Type 3" SUI, otherwise known as Intrinsic Sphincteric Dysfunction (ISD) and generally this is when he is consulted by other physicians to perform this specific operation.  Dr. Admire is currently performing "sling" operations (known as pubovaginal slings, or often termed "Transobturator Tape or TOT/TVT procedures).

Also, although ED (erectile dysfunction, a.k.a. "impotence") is part of general urologic practice that most urologists see and treat, Dr. Casey wants to make sure that patients know that his treatment(s) for ED are "goal directed" and rather rudimentary, and he only treats with the standard modalities out there as discussed on our ED page here at DentonUrology.com.  He specifically does NOT treat psychological sexual dysfunction, nor is he an expert in ejaculatory failure/dysfunction, perceived "penile shortening" (penile lengthening surgery is NOT CONDONED by the AUA), overall mental sexual dissatisfaction, STDs, or the like. Psychological sexual issues are best dealt with by psychologists, and STDs require testing with culture media or viral testing materials unavailable in our clinic and probably are best attended to by the County Health Department Clinic.  It is probably always best to start with your PCP (Primary Care Provider) as they can usually treat most STD infections and also today's modern medical treatment of impotence (i.e. ED) is something our Family Practice and Internal Medicine colleagues are capable of handling quite easily in most circumstances...  Thanks for your understanding! ....  DLC 3/14/2011.
