Prostate cancer is a common malignancy in men.
It constitutes one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers in men and is a frequent cause of cancer death.
Prostate cancer is detected by utilizing a blood test called PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) along with a digital rectal examination (DRE). If these tests are suspicious, an ultrasound and biopsy of the prostate are performed to confirm the diagnosis.
These diagnostic procedures are commonly done at Denton Urology, and Dr. Admire performs (standard open) radical prostatectomy (removal of the prostate). Both Denton Urology physicians diagnose prostate cancer, and help patients make informed decisions about treatment options.
Recent studies suggest that prostate cancer screening with PSA and DRE is helping win the war against prostate cancer by lowering cancer-specific deaths due to prostate cancer treated with curative-intent treatment.
